Biography
People come to an attorney because they need help. Josh Mangiagli built his practice around a simple conviction: that help looks different for every client, and that the attorney's job is to figure out what it looks like for you.
Josh focuses on eminent domain and real estate litigation at Alderman Bernstein LLC, where he has practiced since 2020. His clients include individual landowners facing the loss of property they've owned for generations, businesses navigating the disruption of a government taking, and public entities and condemning authorities working to acquire land for critical infrastructure projects. The cases are rarely simple. The stakes — financial, personal, and practical — are almost always significant.
His first task in any matter is to understand that particular client's circumstances: their goals, their concerns, the strengths and weaknesses of their case. From there, his job is to help them chart the most effective path forward — not the most standard one. Law is not a one-size-fits-all practice, and Josh doesn't treat it that way.
When a case goes to trial, Josh draws on a skill he developed long before law school — as a middle school teacher in New Orleans, he learned how to take a complex story and present it in a way that truly lands with an audience. Eminent domain cases often turn on valuation disputes, technical appraisals, and contested legal standards. Making those things accessible and persuasive to a jury or commission is where preparation meets advocacy.
Josh grew up in Denver and graduated from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law, where he was a member of the National Trial Team, served as an Associate Editor of the Denver Law Review, and was inducted into the Order of the Coif. He earned his undergraduate degree with honors from the University of Vermont.
Outside the office, Josh coaches the mock trial team at Denver North High School, serves on the Executive Council of the Denver Bar Association's Young Lawyers Division, and dedicates time to pro bono work. He lives in Denver with his wife and family.
